U.S. Travel Association Adds Four Future IPW Host Cities

SHINGTON – The U.S. Travel Association on Tuesday announced four future host cities for its annual IPW trade show, locking in locations through 2024.

Future host cities are:

  • Chicago, Illinois—2021 (fourth time as host since 1971, last hosted in 2014)
  • Orlando, Florida—2022 (a record eighth time as host, last hosted in 2015)
  • San Antonio, Texas—2023 (first time as host, and first IPW held in Texas since 2000)
  • Los Angeles, California—2024 (sixth time as host, last hosted in 2012)

“The next four IPW host cities mix East and West Coast, and first-time hosts with old favorites we’re excited to see again,” said U.S. Travel Association President and CEO Roger Dow.

IPW is the largest travel trade show in North America—a one-stop opportunity for U.S. destinations, attractions and businesses to showcase themselves to thousands of influential travel professionals from international markets. The business transacted at IPW has been calculated by the independent firm Rockport Analytics to bring nearly one million extra international visitors and $1.7 billion in international tourism spending to recent host cities, and 8.8 million additional international visitors and $28 billion in international tourism spending to the U.S. economy overall.

As previously announced, New Orleans, La. will be the host city for IPW in 2016, followed by Washington, D.C. in 2017; Denver, Colo. in 2018; Anaheim, Calif. in 2019; and Las Vegas, Nev. In 2020.

U.S. TRAVEL RALLY DAY-MAY 3, 2016

Champion the Benefits of Travel on Rally Day

Travel Rally Day is a concerted effort to demonstrate travel’s positive impact on local workers, businesses and economies—and, of course, on the personal lives of travelers. Individual events are staged in cities nationwide during National Travel and Tourism Week.

The goal of Rally Day is to unite the local travel community with supporters and to publicly represent the importance of travel to media and elected officials.

Next year’s Travel Rally Day is Tuesday, May 3, 2016.

Wear Red

Wearing red during National Travel and Tourism Week has been a signature style statement for more than two decades. It signals unity among travel and tourism professionals and their supporters. Wear red all week long and use the bold color to decorate at rallies, industry luncheons and events. Any day within NTTW is appropriate to “go red,” but it’s especially encouraged on Tuesday, May 5 for Rally Day.

When the travel community wears red and appears united in front of their communities, local lawmakers and the media, it sends a powerful message in a positive way. A mock-up of a special NTTW T-shirt design is available on the  Logos & Graphics page of our online toolkit for inspiration.

Tell Us About Your Event

U.S. Travel would like to know what you are planning for Travel Rally Day on Tuesday, May 5.

Send an email with details of your event to: rallyday@ustravel.org and post details on social media using the hashtag #NTTW2015 to have your event appear on our Social Media Wall, a live content feed highlighting member activities relating to National Travel and Tourism Week sourced from Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
