Ain’t Misbehavin’ is a sassy, sultry celebration of legendary jazz great, Fats Waller. This roof-raising musical tribute will transport audiences to the glory days of the Harlem Renaissance with a versatile cast that struts, strums, and sings the songs that Waller made famous during his storied career including, “Honeysuckle Rose,” “I’m Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter,” “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love,” and dozens more.

Seabourn, in partnership with The Onboard Spa by Steiner, has created a fleet-wide mindful living programme, which will offer guests a holistic spa and wellness experience that integrates physical, social, environmental and spiritual well-being.

Seabourn has worked with Andrew Weil, a pioneer in integrative medicine in the USA, to create the exclusive new Spa and Wellness with Dr Andrew Weil programme, to be launched in January 2017.

The new programme will be led by The Wellness Guide – a newly created Seabourn role.

The guide will be a certified yoga and meditation practitioner who will inspire and educate all guests through various complimentary classes and gatherings throughout the voyage.

The mindful living programme will launch in January 2017, when Dr Weil will be on board Seabourn Encore’s inaugural cruise.

The programme will be rolled out across the Seabourn fleet in 2017, including Seabourn Ovation, when she launches in spring 2018.

Dr Weil will sail on a different Seabourn ship each year, where he will deliver a 60-minute lecture for guests and smaller informal group discussions.

A separate team of wellness experts will also make regular visits to spa facilities throughout the Seabourn fleet.

Central to the programme is the daily practice of meditation and yoga through a selection of complimentary sessions.

Guests can experience Mindful Meditation, which will introduce positive affirmations and mantras they can reflect on throughout the day.

There will also be daily restorative yoga classes which will continue to focus upon the mantra and positive affirmations.

Yoga classes will be varied, offering guests the ability to choose classes that focus on various physical issues, such as yoga to heal back and joint pain, headaches and body alignment, as well as yoga to enhance creativity, mental focus and happiness.

Classes will focus on mind, body and spirit over a period of seven days, and will change daily with a new theme.

Fairmont Austin set to open in 2017
The Fairmont Austin, a new 37-story luxury hotel, is set to open in summer 2017.

Once representing an important common ground between east Austin and downtown, Palm Park will be restored as a leafy, shady respite at the water’s edge, a gathering place that serves the hotel, Convention Centre and surrounding neighbourhoods.

Fairmont Austin’s proximity to both Palm Park and Waller Creek inspired Warren Sheets, of San Francisco-based interior design firm Warren Sheets Design, to create an organic continuity from the hotel’s environment to the spaces within, realising the ‘hotel on a park’ concept in a multitude of spectacular and unexpected ways.

“On a broader scope, I was looking at how important outdoor life is to Austinites and to the state itself,” said Sheets.

“Because the hotel is on a park, I brought The Park into the hotel. All the interior elements down to the smallest details weave a cohesive narrative that honours this beautiful city and will serve to welcome guests with trademark hospitality.”

Upon entering, guests are greeted by two 24 feet high by 26 feet wide towering Heritage Oak trees which flank the reception desk; while The Park  Lounge features a geometric, life-size topiary garden with majestically imposing tree, and moving lights aimed at the ceiling. Indigenous greenery and cultural references also appear throughout the hotel’s interior.

The Red River Canopy Walk, a 33-foot-tall elevated connection from Fairmont Austin to the Austin Convention Centre, will allow the public and guests to view Waller Creek and Palm Park from a unique aerial perspective.

The pedestrian bridge will include a stairway and ramp leading to Palm Park and three miles of new hike and bike trails.

The elegant, open-air design of the Canopy Walk will reinforce Waller Creek’s mission of renewing urban parks to create authentic and uplifting experiences that reflect Austin’s dynamic spirit.
